The offices of Noble Energy, located in Herzliya, Israel, span across eight floors and 13,000 square meters. The design of these spaces was driven by the geometry, materiality, and color scheme of gas platforms. The ceilings were painted in deep blue, simulating the sea, while galvanized pipes and suspended mesh ceilings were used to resemble the platform's floor. This creative approach resulted in a unique visual experience that mimics the view one would have when standing on a gas platform.
Setter's design also prioritizes sustainability. Recycled materials, including platform scraps, were extensively used in the project. Pipe parts were repurposed into potted plants, used timber logs were utilized for wall cladding, countertops, and bar tables, and broken boxes were reassembled for storage and display. This not only contributes to the project's environmental friendliness but also infuses the company's DNA into its own design.
Despite the narrow and long architecture of the floors, the design ensures a pleasant working environment. Employee rooms were located along the perimeter windows to avoid windowless workspaces. To add variety to the elongated corridors, two room modules were used: a short room and a long room. Each floor was characterized by a specific color to aid orientation, with the color block design extending from the floor to the walls and ceiling.
The design encourages interaction and collaboration among employees. Various meeting points, including cafeterias and collaboration areas, were incorporated into the public spaces. A public stairwell was designed to encourage its use, and each floor was characterized by a different color for easy wayfinding. The design process involved extensive research into the company's corporate culture and spirit, with the aim of creating a workspace that is distinctive to Noble Energy.
Setter's design for Noble Energy's offices is a testament to the power of thoughtful, sustainable design. By drawing inspiration from the company's operations and incorporating recycled materials, the design not only creates a unique workspace but also reflects the company's commitment to sustainability. This project serves as an example of how design can be used to create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally responsible and reflective of a company's identity.
